Dolpo Society’s future plan is to have a base in Kathmandu and for this we need chunk of land for the center to build. We strongly felt the need for such a center to help the people upper Dolpo who visit Kathmandu for pilgrims, sick people coming for treatment and accommodate poor. Such a centre in the capital will greatly help to raise needed fund for the centre. Because other indigenous people of Nepal like Sherpas, Mugus, Manangs having centers in Kathmandu are providing much needed developmental help to their root villages and villager’s livelihood have greatly improved, because these indigenous people know and understand their respective villages well and accordingly they carry out works in their villages through the fund given by its centers. On the other hand people of upper Dolpo are the most backward among the indigenous people of Nepal. Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world and Dolpo being inaccessible because of rugged terrains and high altitude remain one of the poorest in Nepal. Besides, years of insurgency have further worsened the condition in Dolpo.
